  7. This directory contains a Euro36 monitor driver with modified tooltypes
  8. (for 1024x768, 53 Hz in Super-High Res Laced).

  10. WARNING: Don't even TRY this if you don't have a real multisync monitor!
  11. I can GUARANTEE that a 1940/42 won't do, as the horizontal frequency is
  12. 21.2 kHz.  It works very well on my IDEK MultiFlat, though.

  14. To try it, just doubleclick "1024x768" (or, if you don't trust other
  15. people's scripts, (1) doubleclick Euro36 and (2) copy overscan.prefs and
  16. screenmode.prefs to ENV:Sys/).

  18. Note:  This will NOT work properly if you already have a Euro36 mode
  19. enabled; in that case, move your old Euro36 file across from Devs/Monitors
  20. to Storage/Monitors and reboot, then run the 1024x768 script.

  22. You should now be able to see a 1024x768, 32-colour Workbench screen...
  23. which unfortunately flickers almost as bad as PAL Laced. :-(  Use your
  24. Prefs/ScreenMode program to change screen depth.  The overscan.prefs file
  25. has been manually edited to allow full-screen cursor movement.  This will
  26. be destroyed if you edit the overscan with Prefs/Overscan.

  28. If you don't want to take care of your eyes :-) , you can modify this
  29. setup even further.  My IDEK just manages to hold a 1280x1024 display, at
  30. 34 Hz interlaced.  But I can't stand watching it for many minutes at a
  31. time...

  36. Ever wanted icons with thousands of colours?  If so, this might be for you.
  37. It's a small hack that makes the Workbench open in HAM6 mode.  I've
  38. included prefs files for PAL, DblPAL, and Super72 screens.  Just doubleclick
  39. either of them and see... I've included some icons of various sizes as a
  40. small taste of what you can get.  The good thing about HAM icons is that
  41. they can be made almost completely independent of your WB colours (the
  42. included icons assume colour 0, 1, and 2 to be grayish, black, and white,
  43. respectively.  No other palette colours are used.)  The icons were created
  44. with ImageFX, btw.

  46. To make a similar mode yourself, just edit your ENV:Sys/screenmode.prefs
  47. file with a binary editor such as AZap.  At offset $32, you'll find the
  48. Display ID for the current mode (e.g. 0008 9024 for Super72:Super-High Res
  49. Laced).  Set the HAM bit by changing the sixth digit from zero to 8 (i.e.,
  50. 0008 9824 for the Super72 example).  You may also need to change the depth
  51. to 6 (for normal HAM) or 8 (for HAM8); this should be at offset $3B.

  54. The logical combination would be a 1024x768 HAM6 Workbench -- but I guess
  55. you've got the general idea now, so you can do that yourself. :-)
